The Alice Ferguson Foundation, one of UMGC’s campus partners, is hosting a Land Stewardship Event on Saturday, April 11, from 8:30–11:00 AM and is seeking volunteers to support this meaningful initiative.
While this event has traditionally focused on cleaning the Potomac River shoreline, this year’s efforts will center on caring for trails, green spaces, and outdoor learning areas due to current environmental conditions. This shift highlights the importance of environmental stewardship and the role we all play in protecting our natural spaces.
There are two ways to get involved:
- Volunteer Staffing Roles (limited spots): Assist with guiding participants to activity locations and help support the refreshments table. To sign up, email Stephanie Le at stephanie.le@fergusonfoundation.org
- Stewardship Activity Participants (unlimited spots): Join fellow volunteers in hands-on projects to maintain and enhance the environment. Register here: https://www.fergusonfoundation.org/event/potomac-cleanup-2026/?blm_aid=98947072
This is a great opportunity to connect with others while making a positive impact on the community and environment.
